چکیده

Activation recovery interval (ARI) has been recently introduced for assessment of repolarization on the cardiac surface. Due to the inhomogeneous conducting effect of the torso we apply statistical tools (first and second moments) for interpreting ARI on the body surface. Variance analysis (Tukey’s and Scheffe’s test) was accomplished using data of 418 patients. The pathological groups were found to be significantly different from normal. The pair-wise classifications of normal with arrhythmia, CAD and infarcts, yielded 93.2%, 79.2% and 72.3% true negative rate, respectively, with sensitivity of 94.3% and specificity of 80.9 %. Using the variance of ARI, we achieved the best result in separation of normal and arrhythmia groups, supporting the hypothesis that enhanced ARI variance is a risk factor for VA vulnerability. Assessment of Heart Repolarization Properties from Body Surface Potential Maps

Use of activation-recovery interval (ARI) in surface ECG leads as possible indicator of changed repolarization in the underlying myocardium was studied. Model ECG data representing normal and pathological myocardium repolarization were simulated on surface of realistic inhomogeneous torso. Results of simulations suggest that shortening and prolongation of action potentials in anterior myocardia...

Comprehensive Assessment of Cardiac Activation and Repolarization Dynamics by Body Surface Potential Mapping

Several studies emphasize the utility of dynamical heart rate parameters and/or repolarization disparity in the assessment of malignant arrhythmia vulnerability. In this study the spatio-temporal action potential dynamics were assessed by the use of body surface potential map (BSPM) records. Healthy subjects and a group of arrhythmia patients were enrolled in the study. Records were taken with ...

Imaging dispersion of myocardial repolarization, I: comparison of body-surface and epicardial measures.

BACKGROUND Body-surface ECG measures (QT dispersion [QTd], QRST integrals) have been used as indices of myocardial repolarization abnormalities with the goal of identifying patients at risk of fatal arrhythmias. The clinical utility of these measures has been questioned. We investigate the complex relationship between epicardial and body-surface potentials in the context of regionally abnormal ...

Risk assessment of ventricular arrhythmia using new parameters based on high resolution body surface potential mapping

BACKGROUND The effective screening of myocardial infarction (MI) patients threatened by ventricular tachycardia (VT) is an important issue in clinical practice, especially in the process of implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) therapy recommendation. This study proposes new parameters describing depolarization and repolarization inhomogeneity in high resolution body surface potential ma...
